Course Import Tool

-
The Course Import Tool makes it easy to extract course content, assignments, and quizzes from previous semesters/years and quickly import them into existing courses. It's also a way to import content from other courses.
-
There is the option to import all the content from another course, or select specific content to import. This same tool is used to import course materials from different Learning Management Systems such as Moodle, Blackboard, and Schoology.
-
To be able to access another teacher's course to important content from it into the course, instructors need to be enrolled as a Collaborator in the other teacher's course. The other teacher can easily enroll someone in his/her course as a Collaborator. As a collaborator, one will NOT be able to edit the other teacher's course, see any of the learners, or view their work.
-
Instructors will open the course into which they want to import their content, access the import tool and choose the other's teacher's course. Check the option to Select Content to pick specific material within the course.
Files Index

-
The Files Index Page is where instructors can upload and organize course files such as articles, images, etc.
-
Canvas makes it easy to click-and-drag files from the desktop directly into the course files index page. Click and drag files within the Files Index Page to organize them into folders.
-
Files can be linked to in Modules, Assignments, or Pages for easy student access.

Student File Access

-
Files can be published to provide all learners access or unpublished to restrict access.
-
Using the Publish/Unpublish button instructors can choose to allow only learners with link to access, which makes it unavailable to all learners via the Files index page.
-
It is possible to set dates of availability for a file to limit access to a certain time frame.
Modules

-
Modules are used to organize course content by weeks, units, or a different organizational structure that works for the course. Modules are a way to display content to learners.
-
Each module can contain files, discussions, assignments, quizzes, and other learning materials. Easily add items to the module that have already been created in the course, or create new content shells within the modules.
-
Modules can be easily organized using the drag and drop feature. Elements within the modules can also be reorganized by dragging and dropping.
